Private Sector Partners

Private Sector partnersBusinesses and organizations are essential partners in ensuring the safety of the workplace and their employees. Protect DC coordinates with the private sector to identify concerning behaviors or communication in the workplace and assists in providing resources to reduce the likelihood of violence occurring.

Step 1Promote a Culture of Safety

Private businesses can promote a culture of safety by encouraging their employees to notify the approriate officials about concerning behavior or communication. Encouraging managers, employees, and clients to share their concerns allows officials to intervene and provide necessary resources to reduce the likelihood of violent situations. Step 2Participate in Training Opportunities

Community members are the first line of defense for identifying concerning behavior or communication. When a community understands what to look for and how to make a referral, the Protect DC Team can better support individuals’ public safety needs and reduce violence. The Fundamentals of Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management course trains community partners and stakeholders on the indicators associated with targeted violence to enhance prevention efforts. Step 3Join DC HSEMA’s Business Emergency Management Operations Center

The Business Emergency Management Operations Center (BEMOC) helps DC’s private partners by sharing real time emergency information, offering trainings, and providing key information for long term recovery. BEMOC assists businesses in maintaining situational awareness before, during, and after an emergency.
